Use of Personal Information
We use your Personal Information for three general reasons. First, we use Personal Information to provide you with the services that you request. Second, we may use your Personal Information to send you additional information about our products or information about other products and services in which you might be interested. Third, we may use your Personal Information in aggregate form to help us evaluate and modify existing services and to help us develop additional services that are likely to be of interest to our users.
When initially providing us with Personal Information, you can always choose not to be contacted by choosing to "opt-out" on the registration screen. Or, you may later decide that you do not want your Personal Information used for these purposes, and you may opt-out by sending an e-mail or letter to us at that time. Please refer to Personal Information: Access and Correction.
Disclosure of Personal Information
BI-USA’s responsibility to keep your information private is taken very seriously. Accordingly, BI-USA shares your Personal Information in only the following circumstances:
BI-USA Operations and Maintenance Contractors: BI-USA may share your Personal Information with third-party contractors as is necessary to respond to your requests for products and information, unless you have opted-out of receiving information. Third-party contractors may access your Personal Information to send you this information on behalf of BI-USA. BI-USA also may hire third-party technology providers to host this website and to store your Personal Information.
Legal Authorities. BI-USA may disclose Personal Information when required by law or legal process, when necessary to protect and defend the rights or property of BI-USA, or when necessary to protect the personal safety of BI-USA website users and customers.
Aggregate Information. Aggregate information does not contain any individually-identifiable Personal Information about our users. From time to time, BI-USA may share aggregate, non-personal information about website usage with third parties, including government agencies and advertisers.
Email to a Friend. On some sites, you can choose to send a link or a message to a friend or colleague referring them to one of our product web sites. E-mail addresses you may provide for a friend will be used to send your friend information on your behalf and will not be collected or used by BI-USA or provided to other third parties for additional purposes.
If you would like to access your Personal Information, or request that your Personal Information be removed from our database, please contact BI-USA through our U.S. mail address listed below. BI-USA will use reasonable efforts to supply you with this information and to correct any factual inaccuracies that you identify.
Collection and Use of Non-Personal Information
BI-USA also collects information that, alone, cannot be used to identify you (referred to as "non-personal information") through this website. We may use this non-personal information in aggregate form for product and service development, for market analysis, and to understand how to improve the quality of our websites. In doing so, we may provide it to third parties. Examples of types of non-personal information that we may collect include gender, age, survey responses, IP addresses, and data stored in cookie files and captured by pixel tags. We describe IP addresses, cookies, and other tracking technology in more detail below:
Internet Protocol Addresses. An Internet Protocol (IP) address is a number automatically assigned to your computer whenever you access the Internet. This number does not identify your name, e-mail address or other Personal Information. If you request information from this website, our server will enter your IP address into a log. We use this information to measure site traffic, to help us to understand how people are using our website and to hopefully improve your online experience.
Cookies and other Tracking Technology. This website may gather certain non-personal information through the use of "cookies," web logs, and pixel tags/web beacons to identify a visitor as the visitor navigates the website. Your web browser permits us to put information, including session-based IDs and/or persistent cookies, on your computer’s hard drive in order to recognize your computer.
"Cookies" are small text files that recognize repeat visitors, facilitate ongoing access to some sites, and allow sites to understand how and when pages are visited and by how many people. Visitors who are concerned about the use of cookie technology may opt to enable a feature in their browser software, if any, that will erase cookies, block all cookies, or warn the user before cookies are stored or exchanged. Please be aware, however, that some parts of this website may no longer function properly if cookies are disabled.
Usually cookies contain no personally identifiable information. However, if you have provided us with Personal Information, we may correlate this information with the cookies or other tracking technology placed on your computer by our web site in order to offer an improved website experience for you.
We also may use tracking technologies such as pixel tags. Pixel tags, also known as web beacons, function similarly to cookies. A pixel tag is an invisible, one pixel-sized piece of code which transmits certain information to our servers. They are placed on key pages, tools, and areas of our website. When a visitor requests/visits/clicks on anything that includes a pixel tag, the information about the visitor’s action is recorded in a web log. This is done in order to track a visitor’s usage across various web pages on our website.
We may also use pixel tags in our HTML-based e-mails in order to determine if e-mails were opened and replied to or forwarded. This information will be used only in aggregate for research to improve site content and usability. You can disable pixel tags by changing your browser settings to omit images or through commercially available software packages.
This website and any accompanying services offered are not directed at children who are under 18 years of age. It is BI-USA’s policy to require that individuals requesting information on our products be 18 years of age or older.
Should we receive Personal Information from a person who we know is under 18, we will automatically delete such information from our database. The information will not be used for any purpose.
